Rev. J. T. Barrow was born August 19, 1839, in Logan county, Ky. He was converted at an early age and soon after united with the church. Feeling that he was called to preach, he prepared himself for his chosen work, and was licensed by his home church about 1864. His first regular work was that of Missionary tor Clear Fork Association. From this field he went to Christian county, Ky., where he served churches in Little River and Bethel Associations. Among these churches were South Union, West Union, Princeton and Cadiz. In 1890 he went to Tennessee to take charge of the work at Sweetwater, where he remained five years. From there he went to Owensboro, Ky., to the Walnut street church, which charge he held for three years. In May 1898 he moved to Elizabethtown, Ky., to serve the church at that place, also Gilead church. He was pastor of these churches when he was accidentally killed by a train at Glendale on July 10, 1899.
