Came to Chicago and engaged in coal business as mem. firm of John R. Stewart & Co., until 1890; then in real estate business, first as Clark & Pottinger until 1894, with Ogden, Sheldon & Co. and as sec. of Ogden Bldg. & Loan Assn. until 1896; mem.
